Visualization of Graphical Data-set on User Specified Axes using the Weighted Isomap Method

چکیده
Most methods of reducing the dimensionality of a data-set try to maximize the variance of the data in the lower-dimensional space; but the axes that achieve this may have no relation to the meaning of the data. We introduce a new semi-supervised method of dimensionality reduction which can embed data of high dimension in a user-defined coordinate system of lower dimension with axes that are meaningful in terms of the properties of the data. We allow the user to specify the lower-dimensional axes, and embed the data in these axes using a modification of the Isomap method, together with curve-based space warping. Using our method, high-dimensional database, such as image or 3D model list, can be visualized two dimensional space based on the user defined properties. A Graphical User Interface for the Exploratory Analysis of High-Dimensional Data Using ISOMAP
The ISOMAP nonlinear dimensionality reduction method of Tenenbaum, de Silva and Langford, was originally implemented in MATLAB by the developers of the algorithm. One of the issues involved with ISOMAP is the need to determine the number of reduced dimensions that best represents the original data. For this purpose, Tenenbaum, de Silva and Langford provide a plot similar to the scree plot in pr...
متن کاملGenerating and Exploring a Collection of Topological Landscapes for Visualization of Scalar-Valued Functions
Any treemap algorithm can be used to translate into a configuration, guaranteeing that the areas of the topological components of the configuration exactly match the (scaled) volumes of their high-dimensional counterparts. Function values between adjacent contours are interpolated using a standard Gaussian-weighted Laplacian. Exploring the Space of Visualizations By using the (scaled) volumes o...
متن کاملComparison of Dimensionality Reduction Methods for Wood Surface Inspection
Dimensionality reduction methods for visualization map the original high-dimensional data typically into two dimensions. Mapping preserves the important information of the data, and in order to be useful, fulfils the needs of a human observer. We have proposed a self-organizing map (SOM)based approach for visual surface inspection. The method provides the advantages of unsupervised learning and...

One among them suggests using suitable user interfaces. This paper investigates the functionality and capabilities of 3D graphical user interfaces in regard to trust building in the customers of next generation of B2C e-commerce websit...
متن کاملAverageExplorer: Interactive Exploration and Alignment f Visual Data Collections
This paper proposes an interactive framework that allows a user to rapidly explore and visualize a large image collection using the medium of average images. Average images have been gaining popularity as means of artistic expression and data visualization, but the creation of compelling examples is a surprisingly laborious and manual process. Our interactive, real-time system provides a way to...
